Negative Approach

Negative Approach was formed in August 1981 in Detroit, Michigan by John Brannon and Pete Zelewski, supposedly after seeing a Black Flag/Necros show. The first NA lineup consisted of Brannon on vocals, Rob McCulloch on guitar, Pete Zelewski on bass and Zuheir on drums. Not long after, Zelewski left the band to form the Allied and was replaced by Rob McCulloch's brother Graham.[1] Zuheir was later replaced by Chris "Opie" Moore. The lineup of Brannon/McCulloch/McCulloch/Moore would remain unchanged until NA disbanded.

NA's first gig was in the basement of Necros drummer Todd Swalla's mother's home. Soon after, they recorded a demo, and followed that up with an appearance on the Process of Elimination compilation 7” EP, released on Meatmen frontman Tesco Vee's fledgling Touch & Go label, named after his fanzine of the same name. The comp also featured the Necros and the Meatmen, among others. NA, the Necros and the Meatmen then embarked on the Process of Elimination tour. Though this “tour” consisted of a mere three shows (Boston, New York City and Washington, DC), it is cited as being a key event in the early spread of hardcore.

The first proper Negative Approach studio release came in 1982 with their self-titled 7” EP, also on Touch & Go. It contained some now-legendary songs such as “Can't Tell No One,” “Ready To Fight” and “Nothing,” which is considered by many to be the quintessential NA song. The quality of the recording is quite poor, but the performances themselves are powerful, and the record is now held in nearly universal high regard by hardcore fans.

The following year saw the release of the Tied Down LP, also venerated as a hardcore classic. While it mostly contains more of the same ultra-fast, angry music as the 7”, the band also branched out somewhat and included a plodding dirge (“Evacuate”) and a (relatively) mid-tempo rocker (“Dead Stop”) on the album.

The classic line-up fell apart in 1983. Rob McCulloch claims that the band had grown weary of the group's reputation for writing negative lyrics but that John Brannon was not comfortable writing differently . Also, Rob has stated that John's involvement with Larissa Stolarchuk from L-Seven was another source of tension for the group. The band re-grouped long enough to record the Tied Down LP, then split for good.

Afterwards, Brannon assembled a new line-up with members Kelly Dermody (guitar), Dave (bass) and Mike (drums). This version of Negative Approach played a series of live shows throughout 1984 which featured some new songs, such as "Obsession," "Tunnel Vision," "Kiss Me Kill Me" and a cover of "I Got A Right" by the Stooges. This line-up can be heard on the Live at the Newtown Theater bootleg 7" and some live tracks recorded at Boston's Paradise club that appear on the Total Recall. discography CD. The new line-up of the band split during the first week of their tour in support of Tied Down, playing their last show in Memphis.

Broken Bones

The band was formed in 83 when Bones from Discharge left Discharge, they where one of the first bands that combined punk with metal.I need to say this when they started to play they played blues :).After that they made a deal with "Fall Out Records" and with them they recorded "Decapitated" in 84.They changed the bass player who went to UK subs to play, and then came Oddy to replace him. Then they had a short tour to America, after that they changed the singer because the old one stayed in America, so Oddy replaced him but he was not in the band for too long in 87 they recorded "F.O.A.D.". Few months after that they broke up, but soon after that they again formed and came with a new singer. Then they had again a tour in America where they had 20 000 people on their gig.
1989 camed out the new album called "Losing Control" that shit sounded like trash metal.in 1992 they broke up but again formed and they are playing still today hope to see them.I separated the album in 2 parts so i could upload it. :)

Patareni

Patareni are a punk rock / noise / grindcore band from Croatia. They formed in 1983. Owing to their formation at such an early date, they are considered to be one of the earliest grindcore bands.

Their discography is extensive, consisting of many CDs, LPs and split singles with bands such as Extreme Noise Terror, Agathocles and Cripple Bastards. Through these releases they gained a reputation as a cult band and many bands have cited Patareni as being one of their primary influences, which prompted the release of A Tribute to the Patareni.

Patareni guitarist Davor played also for Hladno Pivo, one of the most popular rock bands in Croatia and other countries of the former Yugoslavia. Two members of Slovenian grindcore group Extreme Smoke also occasionally played in Patareni. Former member Giulio the Bastard of Italian grindcore band Cripple Bastards has also sung for Patareni. The band has recently reformed, writing new songs and have even talked about possible live appearances.

Paraf

U Parafima 1981. g. dolazi do izmjene članova. Umjesto pjevača Valtera Kocijančića dolazi pjevačica Pavica Mijatović pod nadimkom Vim Cola, dok na gitaru dolazi Klaudio Žic. Ubrzo nakon dolaska Klaudio Žic napušta Parafe kojima se pridružuju gitarista Mladen Vičić i klavijaturista Raoul Varlen s kojima mijenjaju stil i priklanjaju se novovalnom glazbenom izrazu. Uskoro izlazi singl "Fini dečko/Tužne uši" koji im najavljuje album "Izleti".

80-ih godina održali su koncert u Osijeku u tadašnjem STUC-u.

Nakon raspada Termita 1984. godine, gitarista Robert Tičić-Tica prelazi u Parafe i tijekom snimanja ploče umire zbog urođene srčane mane. Ubrzo ga zamjenjuje Mladen Ilić (Konjak). U prosincu izlazi i posljednji album Parafa "Zastave".

G.B.H

Charged GBH are an English street punk band, formed by vocalist Collin Abrahall & guitarist Colin 'Jock' Blyth. GBH were early pioneers of English hardcore punk, often nicknamed "UK82", along with Discharge, Broken Bones, The Exploited, and The Varukers.

Originally known simply as Charged GBH (grievous bodily harm), their name was changed to GBH in order to differentiate themselves from another band of the same name. Founding members were Colin 'Col' Abrahall (vocals), & Colin 'Jock' Blyth (guitar).

Charged GBH embarked on several English and mainland US tours during the early 1980s, including several gigs at the 100 Club. 1982 saw GBH's first LP, City Baby Attacked By Rats. Lyrically, the album dealt with criticism of British and European culture, violence, morbidity (especially in reference to the song "Passenger On The Menu", which describes in graphic detail the experiences of the passengers on the Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571), atheism, nihilism and general absurdity. Musically, the album was loud and fast, with few songs exceeding three minutes. In 1983 the band changed their name to GBH.

Unlike many early punk bands who evolved towards a more post-punk sound, GBH have stayed fairly faithful to their original UK82 sound in subsequent releases. However, the band have experimented to some degree with a more metal-inflected sound, notably with their 1992 release Church of the Truly Warped, although they have since returned to a more purist punk sound. The band is still active and touring and maintain a strong following both in England and the rest of Europe, as well as in America and Japan.

Whilst supporting Rancid at Rock City, Nottingham, UK on 10 November, 2008, GBH announced that the band has signed with Hellcat Records and will be releasing a new album on that label in the near future.

Schleim Keim

The band camed from Erfurt(Eastern Germany), the band was formed by brothers Klaus and Dieter and a friend Andreas in 1980.Their instruments were made from all kinds of shit, but they managed to buy the real thing after 2 years.Their first gigs where in the churches because of the police who would alway mess in their gigs.
For their first compilation track they renamed the band to Saukerle to avoid any trouble with the police because of their lyrics. But then because they had many shit with the police their drummer left the band and many people then camed to play, but after that when the East German reigim falled down Andreas left the band but they managed to save the band and started to play again. When the Germany finnally was reunited they had normal gigs but Dieter started to drink too much and he would often use drugs and he left the band.
In 1999 Dieter killed his father with an axe so they put him in a psycho clinic where he died about 4 years ago.

Combat 84

were an English Oi! band active during the early 1980s. Formed in 1981 in Chelsea, London by skinheads Chris 'Chubby' Henderson and John Deptford, Combat 84 rose to national prominence after being featured in a controversial 1982 BBC Arena documentary about the skinhead movement.
The band was originally composed of Henderson (vocals), Deptford (bass guitar), Jim (guitar) and Brownie (drums) and played their first gig supporting The Last Resort at the Walmer Castle, Peckham. The Last Resort's lead singer, Roi Pearce (later of The 4-Skins) liked the band and agreed to produce a two-song demo tape with them. These sessions resulted in the songs "Soldier" and "Combat 84", which were favourably received in the music press, leading to the band being described as 'the new Sham 69'.

In 1982, the manager of The 4-Skins, Gary Hitchcock attempted to get the band singed to Secret Records, then home to The 4-Skins, The Business, Infa Riot and The Exploited, although the deal fell through at the last minute, prompting Combat 84 to sign to Victory Records for the release of their Orders of the Day EP. Former Business drummer John Fisher replaced Brownie for the recording of the second (1983) EP, Rapist.

More right-leaning, lyrically than many of their punk rock and Oi! peers, Combat 84 received much criticism for recording a song that advocated capital punishment for rapists ("Rapist"), and a song that supported the British nuclear deterrent and criticized the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) and reds in general ("Right to Choose"). Guitarist Jim stated in a 2000 interview that the latter song was intended in a tongue-in-cheek manner, as a homage to Vietnam War movies.[1] Other lyrical themes included criticism of unemployment, inner-city violence, war, the New Romantic movement and Visage singer Steve Strange.

National controversy erupted around the band in the tabloid and music press after they were featured in a 1982 BBC Arena documentary, during which Henderson made a racist statement about black people. It was a view not shared by the other band members; in the same documentary, Deptford commented on the similarity in living situation between black and white working-class youths in early 1980s Britain. Footage of crowd violence at a gig was also broadcast in the documentary. This led to the breakup of the band, as their newly-earned bad reputation discouraged venues from booking the band. Gigs were then often played under the pseudonym The 7th Cavalry to avoid the stigma of the Combat 84 name.

Victory Records, wanting little to do with the band at this point, compiled an album of studio recordings (intended for the band's debut album) and bootleg-quality live tracks and licensed it to German label Rock-O-Rama Records for release as Send in the Marines in 1984. The record was disowned by the band, which split up soon after.

In the intervening years, Combat 84 were frequently labelled as a neo-Nazi, white power or Rock Against Communism (RAC) band, a charge which has been denied by Deptford and Jim, noting that the band's songs contained no racist lyrics, nor were they ever aligned with any far-right political party, although Deptford noted in a 2001 interview with the "Pissed and Proud" fanzine that he believes in free speech and whilst not supporting it, that RAC music should be allowed a platform - as "people should be allowed to say what they want".
John Deptford and Jim went on to roadie for and play with the U.K. Subs and The Exploited, and John Fisher played with former members of The Last Resort in The Warriors. After retiring from the music business, Chris Henderson became involved with football hooliganism, and eventually led the Chelsea Headhunters in the mid-to-late 1980s, writing the book Who Wants it? about his experiences with Colin Ward. He now owns a bar in Thailand.

In 2000, the band reformed without Henderson for the release of the Tooled Up EP, released on their own 7th Cavalry record label. Deptford took over vocal duties, with Jim on guitar, and 'F.T.' and 'Suds' on bass and drums respectively.

Slaughter And The Dogs

Taking their name from two of their biggest influences - Mick Ronson's "Slaughter On Tenth Avenue" and David Bowie's "Diamond Dogs" - SLAUGHTER AND THE DOGS formed in April 1976 at Manchester's Wythenshawe Sharston High School with a line up up of Mick Rossi (guitar), Wayne Barrett (vocals), Howard 'Zip' Bates (bass) and Brian 'Mad Buffet' Grantham (drums).
Following a series of local gigs the band managed to convince Malcom MacLaren that they had a 'huge following' and so blagged the support slot to the SEX PISTOLS legendary show at Manchester's Lesser Free trade Hall on July 20th 1976, a gig that also saw the first performance by the BUZZCOCKS.
A couple of supports slots to the DAMNED plus their own headlining shows at venues like London's The Roxy and Swindon's The Affair (wich saw The ADVERTS making their debut live) preceded by Manchester Independant la bel Rabid Records and, coupled with the bands manic and highly visual live show, helped establish SLAUGHTER & THE DOGS on the then booming Punk circuit.
August 29th 1977 saw the relase of the "Where Hall All The Boot Boys Gone" single - three minutes of unadulterated power and agression that had a marked effect in laying the foundations for the early 80's Oi! movement. 5a promo video was also made for the 45). Late November '77 saw the release of their second Decca single "Dame To Blame" and it was promoted by a short tour of London venues like The Marquee, The Nashville and Dingwalls though chart action, alas, was not forthcoming.
For February 1978's "Quick Joey Small" 7" slaughter were augmented by a guest appearance by Mick Ronson but even couldn't help kick this cover of a 60's classic into the charts.
After signing to Decca Records, the band released the "Where Have All The Boot Boys Gone?" in 1978. The same year, singer Wayne Barrett left the band and they began rehearsing with new vocalist Steve Morrissey. Morrissey recorded four songs with them, but did not become a permanent part of the band. For a time, the band also included Billy Duffy who achieved fame with The Cult. Slaughter & The Dog’s first single on DJM Records was a cover version of "You're Ready Now", which took it origins from Frankie Valli's solo chart single of 1966.
The band shortened their name to Slaughter in the early 1980s, and drastically changed both their look and sound. They are not to be confused with other bands with the same name.
The band reformed to headline 'Holidays in the Sun' in 1996 and the new line up featuring the French rhythm section of J.P. Thollet (Bass) and Noel Kay (Drums) continues to record, tour and headline festivals. They play still today;)

Blitz

They are from New Mills in Derbyshire, this was a band of two punx and two skins who made the band.Their first release was a 4 track EP called "All Out Attack", as it was turned out the fans bought over 20 000 copies. On their concerts they would throw cans and bottles on the fans and that was what Blitz was all about! The band wanted to release the "The Time Bomb Demos", the bands 3rd single was "Warriors" what had a slight change in the sound of Blitz. To promote the album "Voice of the Generation" the band joined GBH and Abrasive Wheels on their tour, just to say the tour was a complete disaster.Mackie left the band then Tim Harris came in to help the band-he had been the main producer for the band and also the main engineer. Not long after that Nidge also left the band and joined Mackie to form"Rose Of Victory".Carl and Tim carried on as the Blitz and released "New Age".After that band totally change directions but some fans have been with them, they broke up in 1999.

Youth Brigade

The three brothers were graduates of Beverly Hills High School in Beverly Hills, California. They formed Youth Brigade in the summer of 1980 in Hollywood, California, amid the explosion of the punk scene in Southern California. The basic philosophy of the band is that "youth" is an attitude, not an age and that every generation has the responsibility to change what they feel is wrong in the world. It is with these ideals in mind that the band was started, and that eldest brothers Shawn and Mark formed the Better Youth Organization in 1982.

Youth Brigade first year of existence was as a 6 piece but played their first gig as a 3 piece on New Year's Eve 1981 at Godzilla's nightclub. They were part of the big BYO extravaganza "Youth Movement '82" at the Hollywood Palladium, where 3500 people showed up for an all LA bill in early February.

After having secured a licensing deal for Sound & Fury in England, plans were made to tour Europe in the fall of 1984. They released a 3 song EP What Price? in spring 1984 and then played around 50 dates throughout Holland, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Yugoslavia, Poland, and England and were one of the first independent American bands to tour the "underground" of Europe and eastern countries. After this tour, younger brother & bassist Adam decided to return to art school and finish his degree. The band recorded his last show in June 1985 at Fenders Ballroom in Long Beach, California and these tracks have been released on Italian and French releases as well as the Sink With Kalifornija CD collection. Brothers' Shawn and Mark continued on as "The Brigade" for about 2 years after the departure of Adam.

In 1991, meeting in a bar in Hamburg, Mark and Adam expressed the desire to reform Youth Brigade for a tour and Shawn agreed. When they returned home in January 1992, they started working on new material and did a show at the Whisky A Go-Go in Hollywood, late April.

They recorded 6 songs in July at Westbeach Studios for their Come Again EP. In the middle of September that Youth Brigade once again packed their bags to tour Europe. The tour covered Germany, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Switzerland, France, Spain, Italy, Czechoslovakia & Poland.

More than ten years after their debut, the band recorded Happy Hour at Westbeach Studios and released it March 1994. Soon after they added former Cadillac Tramps, U.S. Bombs, and current Social Distortion guitarist Jonny "2 Bags" Wickersham and recorded the next full length To Sell the Truth in April 1996. Produced by Steve Kravac (Less Than Jake, MXPX) and mixed by long time friend Thom Wilson (Offspring, Bouncing Souls).

In 1998 the band went back in the studio to record a 30-second song for the Fat Wreck Chords compilation, Short Music For Short People. The song was recorded in a friend's living room, and brought back all of the raw edged energy that had been missing in previous recordings. The raw sound went over so well, that the band decided to abandon the high production sounds and get back to basics. In mid 1999, they went in to record 6 new tracks for Volume 2 of the BYO Records Split series. The flip side of the album was recorded by Nothern Californian punks Swingin Utters. The album received rave reviews, stating that this was Youth Brigade's best recording ever.

Versaute Stiefkinder

The german punk band "Versaute Stiefkinder" formed together in may 1993 in the east part of Germany. The members played in some other punk bands befor, such as "Umsturz im Kinderzimmer","Coka Coma" and "Atonal".The meaning of Versaute Stiefkinder in english language is something like "Messed up Stepchildren".At first they just formed the band because they were bored of all the bad punk bands and wanted to make something better. So they started to record 2 tapes which are named "Neue entsetzliche Enthüllungen" and "Bunkerchaoten".After playing alot of shows they released their singles "Die Ruhe vor dem Sturm" and "Verlierer" in 1994 and also put a few songs on sampler cds with friends such as Barbarenmusi or HöhnieRecords. Two years later in 1996 the first full lenght LP/CD got released."Die Demokratie muß gelegentlich in Blut gebadet werden"(The Democracy must be bathed in Blood") started a big controverse because of its political statements and lyrics. The line-up at that time was Murks-drums,E-Hans-git.,O.L.-git.,Reni-bass,Babsi-vox and Liesel-vox.All lyrics throughout the years were written by Liesel.Again two years later in 1998 the second album got released at Nasty Vinyl records. The LP/CD is called "Die Zeichen stehn auf Krieg"(The Signs indicate war) and this time the style of the music and lyrics was even more rough. This album is on of the most agressive punk releases in Germany till this day.The line-up changed and now Ronny played the drums and Olli th guitar.Reni still played bass,O.L. his guitar and Liesel is and always was the throat of the band.By now the original line-up doesn't exist anymore and no more releases followed after their second LP.After many shows with german punk legends such as "Schleim Keim,"L'Attentat","Razzia","Korrupt","Rawsie","Rasta Knast" or "The Annoyed",the band built their name in the scene and is one of the most important german punk bands ever.In 2008 Benni from "SS-Kaliert" asked the original singer Liesel for playing shows as "Versaute Stiefkinder" and at the Höhnie-Party 2009 was the unforgettable show with the line-up of Benni-git.,A.G.-git.,Nils-bass,Fab-drums and still Liesel-vox.Today the two LP/CDs are still available at several labels and Liesel and SS-Kaliert keep playing Vesaut Stiefkinder songs on their shows...

Peter and the test tube babies-interview

Pankerijada presents you the legends Peter and the test tube babies ,and the interview with them, which goes like this:

1.Here goes the first question, tell me who are you, what do you play in the band and write something short about the band?

Del:
I'm Del, the guitar player and songwriter. We are a punk band from Brighton in England. We have been playing together for 31 years.

2.How did you first get the idea of starting a band and why the name Peter and the test tube babies?

Del:
When we first started we never really had a name we used to make something up on the night. Peter and the Pints of Beer, Peter and the
Packets of Peanuts etc... Then, in 1978 we were walking down the street and we saw a news paper headline 'WORLDS FIRST TEST TUBE BABY BORN'
and that one just stuck.

3.Who are you biggest role models, and with who would you like to play the most?

Del:
Funny words "role model" and "heroes", not sure I approve of their use. Been influenced by a lot of people,
well everyone you meet in your life influences you, good or bad, but i'm not sure if I want to think of them as heroes or role models.
I wouldn't want to be thought of as hero or role model. If I had to choose, I would choose people that lived life to the full
like Oliver Reed, Keith Moon or Charles Darwin!!

4.Who writes most of your lyrics, and where do you get the inspiration and motivation for writing them?

Del:
Peter used to write the the lyrics and I (the music). But in the second half of the season
I have been writing and producing everything with Peter throwing me the occasional scrap to decypher, cut and paste!!

5.About what do you write your lyrics?

Del:
Just strange stuff that happens around me. Alternative ways to look at life and experiences. Turning normality upside down!

6.Which one of your published albums are your favorite?

Del:
The next one.

7.What is your most memorable gig ever?

Del:
Can't remember many. Mainly remember tours as a sort of long enjoyable blur or a long unenjoyable blur. Best tour was
probably the Dead Kennedys 'Plastic Surgery Disasters tour'. Most talked about gig was our headline at the Olympic auditorium
in Los Angeles in 1983, Suicidal Tendancies, JFA, TSOL and the Adicts were also on the bill wihk 4000 young LA punks there.
It was Tony Hawks first ever punk show. We were too out of it and played shit and the PA was crap but no-one seemed to care,
certainley not us, It was all about the occasion.

8.What do you think about todays punk scene, and the one back in the 80-es?

Del:
Punk is Punk.
It's a lifestyle and an attitude, not an immigration form to fill in for the fashion police! , It's not a scene or a time or a
place of birth. It's about making your own rules and respecting people that deserve it. It doesn't matter if you can play good music or not.
It's about how you interact with other people on this planet. Wether you're Sparticus or Cool Hand Luke, It's about rebelling against greedy
people, ripping them off and having fun! and never giving in!!

9.Do you have any plans for the future, like a new album or tours around Europe?

Del:
We're getting some new songs together at the moment. Going to start recording this year. we continuing with festivals around Europe and our
usual Christmas tour has been scheduled for Christmas.

10.How did you like playing in Croatia,Pula and Zagreb? How do you like the croatian audience and punk scene?

Del:
We love Pula and Zagreb. We always have a great time here!

LIVE IN ZAGREB

11.What do you do apart from playing in peter and the test tube babies

Del:
I tour manage other bands and give them the benefit of my long experience

12.And the last question, tell us briefly where will you play your next gigs, and we hope to see
you play in Osijek,Croatia someday,it"s been a pleasure talking to you, cheers!

Del:

Gewapend Beton-Until We Die

Gewapend Beton started out in 2003 as four 13 year old kids and released their first demo CD-r ''embryo punk'' the same year. We recorded 7 songs in 2004 but it took almost a year before the split LP "nederpunk gaat door" with the Bakfietsboys came out on the defunct labels pogopunx, dp-or-not-dp and Attack records. After lots of cool shows we hit the studio again in 2007 to record our first Full length LP/CD ''17 until we die''. It was released by Dirty Faces, La Familia and Attack records. From then on we started to do a lot of touring. We recently recorded 6 new tracks at studio 195 for a 12 inch EP / CD ''Empty Batteries'', released by Crucial Attack records and La Familia records.
